A Rough Start for the Phillies
The Phillies battled the Giants, but unfortunately, today wasn't our day. The game started off rocky for our guys as the Giants hit the scoreboard early. Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee quickly advanced the Giants to a lead four-run lead in the very first inning. The top of our lineup tried to rally; Trea Turner managed an infield single and Bryce Harper walked, but we could only claw back two runs. J.T. Realmuto and Edmundo Sosa got those runs on the board, but it wasn't quite enough to keep up.
Harper's Heroics in the Fourth Inning
Our hopes surged when Bryce Harper crushed a homer to right field in the bottom of the fourth inning, bringing Johan Rojas home. That incredible blast evened the score, and things were starting to look up. With Harper's homer, the team appeared ready to make a turning point in the game. However, the Giants managed to regain the lead due to a frustrating error.
Giants Pull Away
Despite hanging in there, things took a tougher turn during the later innings. The Giants hammered in four additional runs in the seventh inning, extending their lead significantly. Mike Yastrzemski capped it off with a double, which was another blow to our chances of clawing back. Our brave bullpen fought hard to stop the onslaught, but the damage was done. Although Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber had their moments on base, we couldn't turn them into more runs. As the game came to a close, the Phillies fell to the Giants with a final score of 11-4.
Let's regroup and bring the fight back in the next game! Go Philly!
