Tough Loss in Seattle: Giants Fall Short 4-3

We really hoped for a better outcome in today's matchup against the Seattle Mariners 🦑, but unfortunately, we fell short with a final score of 4-3.

Early Spark by Ramos 💥

Things started off promisingly in the first inning. Tyler Fitzgerald reached first base on a throwing error by Josh Rojas, giving us a glimmer of hope. LaMonte Wade Jr. struck out looking, but then Heliot Ramos stepped up and launched a homer to left-center, sending Fitzgerald home and putting us up 2-0. Seeing that ball fly out really got our hopes up! Sadly, Michael Conforto and Matt Chapman both struck out to end the inning.

Mariners Respond 🏃‍♂️

In the bottom of the first, the Mariners got on the board. After Dylan Moore walked and managed to steal second, a single by Cal Raleigh drove him home. A bizarre double play ended the inning, but by then, the Mariners had cut our lead to 2-1.

Silent Bats 🤐

Despite our promising start, our bats went silent over the next several innings. They only managed sporadic hits here and there, and we couldn’t bring anyone home to extend our lead. Grant McCray gave us some life with a single in the 5th, but Curt Casali flied out to end that hope.

Mariners Take The Lead 🧼

In the 5th inning, the Mariners capitalized again. Josh Rojas led off with a single and eventually scored on a groundout by Julio Rodríguez. This tied the game at 2-2. In the 6th inning, they slid past us, scoring two more runs due to some hits and a couple of unlucky moments for us. At the end of the 6th, the Mariners had a 4-2 lead.

McCray's Blast 🚀

A ray of hope shone in the 8th inning when Grant McCray crushed a solo homer to right field, bringing us within one run at 4-3. Mark Canha pinch-hit and walked, followed by LaMonte Wade Jr. who also walked. Suddenly, we had runners on base, but our chance to capitalize faltered as Heliot Ramos struck out swinging, followed by Michael Conforto grounding out.

Final Push Falls Short 😞

Heading into the 9th, Matt Chapman walked, giving us a glint of hope. However, he struck out with the tying run just inches away. Mike Yastrzemski struck out, Thairo Estrada grounded out, and though Chapman managed to steal third, we just couldn’t bring him home. Grant McCray walked, but Mark Canha struck out swinging to end the game.

It was a tough loss, Giants fans, but let's keep our heads up. Tomorrow is another day and another chance for victory! 🧡⚾
