Game Seattle Mariners @ Chicago Cubs (June 20th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Loss for the Cubs

It was an intense game today, but alas, our beloved Chicago Cubs succumbed to the Seattle Mariners, closing the match with a score of 9-4. 🌧️ It started off promisingly at Wrigley Field, especially after Ian Happ blasted a 425-foot homer in the first inning to equalize things at 1-1 following Cal Raleigh's initial home run for Seattle. Michael Busch also gave the Cubs an early edge with a two-run single, bringing home Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki! 💥

Mid-Game Momentum

Our pitching held the Mariners at bay for some time. Despite a stolen base here and a scoring single there, the Cubs kept fighting through the middle innings, with Reese McGuire adding a homer in the 5th to extend our lead to 4-2. The energy was high, and we were all feeling good. But the Mariners found their stride with home runs from both Mitch Garver and another by Raleigh, putting a dent in our scorecard during the 6th and 7th innings. ⚾😨

A Disheartening Conclusion

The 9th inning proved to be a challenge as the Mariners' bats fired up with an unsettling homer by Garver, giving the visitors a strong 9-4 lead. Our Cubbies couldn't rally in the bottom of the 9th despite a single from Nico Hoerner, and the game concluded with a double play. We approached the finale with such hope, but reality had other plans today. 💔

Let's keep cheering for our Cubbies and hope for a stronger comeback in the next game! Until then, let's enjoy the highlights of Happ's powerful homer and the admirable tenacity our team showed out there. Go Cubs Go! 💙👏
