Early Lead for the Mariners
What a rollercoaster it was for us Mariners fans at the start! The game began on a high note as Randy Arozarena showcased his speed with a double, followed by Cal Raleigh drawing a walk. Our star Julio Rodríguez knocked Arozarena home with a single to center. We were not done yet! Eugenio Suárez brought Raleigh home with another single, putting us up by two early in the game. Things intensified as Jorge Polanco blasted a homer to left field, taking Rodríguez with him. At the end of the first inning, we were comfortably ahead with a 4-0 lead against the Guardians.
Guardians' Comeback
As the innings rolled on, both teams showed strong defensive plays. The Guardians struggled to get their offense going early on, but slowly chipped away at our lead. Kyle Manzardo got a homer in the sixth, but it was still a comfortable 4-1 in our favor. However, things began to unravel in the later innings. Nolan Jones hit a homer in the seventh, which brought the Guardians closer at 4-2. Angel Martinez then narrowed the gap further by driving in José Ramírez in the eighth to bring it to a nail-biting 4-3 with us still hanging on.
Heartbreaking Finish
The ninth inning was tense for all of us Mariners fans. Nolan Jones started the Guardians' offense with a double, and then a critical error allowed Brayan Rocchio to tie it up 4-4. The Guardians seized the opportunity when Steven Kwan hit a sacrifice fly, bringing Rocchio home and leading to a stunning victory for Cleveland at 5-4. A game that started with so much promise ended in a heartbreaking loss, despite our early lead. We'll regroup and come back stronger next time!
Stay strong, Mariners fans! We'll get 'em next time!
