Tough Day in Detroit
Well, Mariners fam, tonight's game against the Tigers was a tough one to swallow. Our boys faced a relentless Detroit lineup that seemed to take control early and never let go. The final score? 15-1 in favor of Detroit.Early Struggles
The top of the 1st started quietly for us with Victor Robles, Randy Arozarena, and Justin Turner unable to get anything going. Leo Rivas was back on the mound, and while he had a promising beginning, striking out several batters, the Tigers managed to get on base and brought in the first run pretty quickly. It seemed like the floodgates opened after that.Brief Hope in the 4th
We found a glimmer of hope in the top of the 4th when Julio Rodríguez ripped a double to center, and eventually, Mitch Haniger drove Turner in with a single. Unfortunately, that run was our only one of the game.Tigers Roar Back
The bottom of the 4th was particularly rough. Kerry Carpenter, Jake Rogers, and company went on an absolute tear, adding six more runs and putting us in a deep hole we couldn't climb out of. By the time Gio Urshela hit a 364-foot homer in the 6th, it was pretty much lights out for us.Trying to Regroup
Our bats struggled tremendously. Even though Mitch Garver managed to get on base with a walk in the 7th, and we were hit by a couple of pitches giving us some chances, Detroit's pitching was impenetrable. Changes in the field and on the mound didn't stem the tide, leaving us with few highlights.Focus on the Next Game
Although today didn't go our way, it's important to remember one thing: it's all part of the game we love. One rough game doesn't define our season. Let's appreciate the effort the guys put in and look forward to bouncing back strong in the next matchup.Go Mariners!
