A Heartbreaker in Extra Innings
Hey Mariners fans, today's game was a nail-biter that unfortunately didn't go our way. We battled hard, but the Marlins edged us out 3-2 in the bottom of the 10th inning. Here's a recap of what went down.Early Lead and Pitcher's Duel
We kicked things off strong in the top of the 1st inning. J.P. Crawford started us off with a single and eventually stole second base. Julio Rodríguez then singled to right, moving Crawford to third. A sac fly by Mitch Garver brought Crawford home, putting us on the board early. In the second inning, we added another run when Ryan Bliss tripled, scoring Ty France. Things were looking good as we ended the second inning with a 2-0 lead.Pitching Dominates the Mid-Game
Both teams showcased solid pitching and defense through the middle innings. Our guys did an excellent job of holding the Marlins scoreless until the 6th inning. But then, things took a turn. Bryan De La Cruz hit a solo homer, followed by another homer from Josh Bell, tying the game at 2-2. It was a gut punch, but we managed to keep it tied into extra innings.Missed Opportunities and a Painful End
We had our chances in extra innings but couldn't capitalize. In the 8th inning, Victor Robles singled and stole second, but we couldn't bring him home. In the 10th inning, pinch hitter Josh Rojas got to third but was left stranded. The Marlins seized their opportunity in the bottom of the 10th when Tim Anderson singled, driving in the winning run.Final Thoughts
It's a tough one to swallow, Mariners fans. We saw some bright spots, especially early on with hits and aggressive base running, but the Marlins just had our number in the end. Let's regroup and get ready for the next game. We'll get 'em next time!Scoreboard for Mariners @ Marlins (June 21st, 2024)
