Heartbreaker in Oakland: Mariners Fall Short in Extras
Well, Mariners fans, it was a nail-biter in Oakland last night, but unfortunately, we fell just short against the Athletics with a final score of 7-6 in 11 innings.
Mariners Jump Ahead in the 3rd
Things started slowly, but J.P. Crawford and Jorge Polanco got the ball rolling in the top of the 3rd. After Rhylan Thomas walked and Crawford also drew a walk, Polanco delivered with a single that scored Thomas. Rowdy Tellez and Miles Mastrobuoni followed up with key hits that drove in a combined three more runs, giving us a satisfying 4-2 lead by the end of the inning.

Athletics Bounce Back
The A's weren't backing down, though. In the bottom of the 4th, they tied the game at four apiece, with Shea Langeliers’ homer and a couple of singles. We managed to keep them at bay for a while, though. Casey Legumina came in and gave us solid relief pitching which kept us hopeful! But in the 7th, Langeliers struck again with a sacrifice fly that brought Brent Rooker home, nudging the Athletics ahead at 5-4.Extra Innings Drama
In an intense top of the 8th, Ben Williamson delivered with an RBI single that brought Cal Raleigh home to tie the game at 5-5. It was anyone’s game again! Then, in the 10th, we took the lead when Mastrobuoni brought home Raleigh with a sacrifice fly. Alas, the bottom of the inning had drama in store for us, with Jacob Wilson hitting a single to bring JJ Bleday home to tie us back at 6-6. And finally, in the 11th inning, their hero Wilson came through again with a single, pushing across the winning run for a disappointing end for our boys.Despite the loss, there are positives to take away, especially our resilience in fighting back and pushing it to 11 innings. Let's regroup and keep cheering on our Mariners. We'll get them next time!
