Tough Start for the Mariners
The Seattle Mariners faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies, and it was a night the pitching staff might want to forget. The Phillies came out swinging with an explosive second inning, scoring a whopping six runs, led by Trea Turner's and J.T. Realmuto's homers. Our bats were quiet early, and we struggled to find momentum against Philly's stout defense.
Middle Innings Show Signs of Life
Our guys tried to claw back in the seventh inning. Mitch Garver put us on the board with a solo homer, and Cole Young followed it up with a stellar three-run homer that seemed to inject some life back into our team! The boys were showing some fight, cutting the lead to 4-7. Let's give credit to Dominic Canzone for taking one for the team and getting on base before Young's homer.
The Nail in the Coffin
Despite some late heroics, the Phillies added to their lead with a strong showing in the seventh and eighth innings. Bryce Harper's second homer of the night was a crusher, extending their lead. Josh Naylor, Mitch Garver, and J.P. Crawford played hard in the final inning to get a few runs back, but it wasn't quite enough. It was a rough finish with the score ending at 12-7 in favor of the Phillies.
We'll shake it off, support our guys, and look forward to the next game. Go Mariners!
