Tough Battle in San Diego
Oh boy, fellow Mariners fans, this was a rollercoaster of a game against the San Diego Padres, and unfortunately, we couldn't come away with the win, losing 5-2. It wasn't all doom and gloom, though—there were some moments that had me on the edge of my seat with excitement! Let's dive into the highlights and low points of this showdown.
Padres Strike First
The game started off on a rough note for us in the bottom of the 1st inning. After Eguy Rosario drew a walk, Manny Machado launched a massive homer to put the Padres up 2-0 early. Before we knew it, they added another run with a double from Oscar Gonzalez that scored Gavin Sheets. Not the start we were hoping for, but our boys managed to hold the Padres at 3-0 for the rest of the inning.
Mariners Get on the Board
By the top of the 3rd inning, Tyler Locklear gave us a spark by getting hit by a pitch, and shortly after, both he and Austin Shenton pulled off a double steal—a beautiful display of teamwork!

Final Push Falls Short
Pitching changes were the name of the game, as both teams shuffled through their bullpens. San Diego managed to extend their lead to 5-1, but we didn't give up! In a last-ditch effort in the top of the 9th inning, Samad Taylor gave us a little bit of hope by launching a solo homer to left. Woohoo, way to go, Taylor!!
Despite the loss, there were positive takeaways and silver linings. We got to see some incredible athleticism with steals and grit from our Mariners. Although the score wasn't in our favor, we Mariners fans know that every game strengthens our team for the future. Let's keep the faith and rally around our team—Go Mariners!
