Tough Day at Petco Park 😢

Hey Padres fans, what a rough game today against the Mariners. We were shut out 2-0 in what felt like a nail-biter until the very last inning.

Early Struggles Offensively 🥶

Unfortunately, our bats were pretty cold this game. During the first inning, Luis Arraez flied out, Jurickson Profar grounded out, and Jake Cronenworth followed suit. This trend continued with the next three innings lacking significant offensive output. Even when we got men on base, like in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Donovan Solano, Jackson Merrill, and David Peralta all singling, we couldn't capitalize, ending with a double play off Ha-Seong Kim's fly.

Defensive Struggles 🤯

Defensively, it was a tricky game too. In the top of the 2nd inning, a fielding error by Luis Arraez allowed the Mariners to score their first run as Cal Raleigh crossed home plate. Another run came in the 4th inning after Luke Raley singled and was driven in by Jorge Polanco's single.

Pitching Highlights & Lowlights âš¾

Our pitchers had their moments. Morejon and Estrada kept us in the game, especially Morejon who came in the 7th and gave up a hit but struck out two. However, Randy Sullivan also threw an error that could have resulted in more damage if it weren't for Garver popping out to end the 7th.

Flashes of Hope 😬

In the 8th inning, Brett Sullivan walked and Luis Arraez finally singled, giving us some hope with two men on base. Sadly, Jurickson Profar struck out swinging to end our chances.

The 9th inning gave fluttering butterflies with Jake Cronenworth walking, and Manny Machado walking to put us in a great position. Bryce Johnson ran for Machado to pump up some speed, but we just couldn't push the runs in.

Overall, today's game felt like one missed opportunity after another. Let's shake it off and look forward to the next series! Padres, we got this! 💪✨
