Tough Loss for the Padres Against the Mariners

Another tough outing for our Padres as they fell 8-3 to the Mariners. 😓 Let's break down what happened in this game.

Early Struggles

We got off to a rough start right from the jump. In the top of the 1st inning, Mariners' Julio Rodríguez singled to left, bringing J.P. Crawford home. Unfortunately, our offense couldn't respond as Luis Arraez, Jurickson Profar, and Jake Cronenworth all grounded out. Not the start we wanted. 😕

Middle Innings Woes

In the 3rd inning, we faced more trouble as Cal Raleigh homered, driving in Julio Rodríguez. By the 5th inning, they extended their lead to 5-0 with a Julio Rodríguez solo home run. Numerous strikeouts and groundouts meant our bats stayed quiet through the first six innings.

Late Rally Hope

A glimmer of hope finally arrived in the 7th inning when Jake Cronenworth homered to right, giving us our first run of the game. Then in the 8th inning, Kyle Higashioka hit a two-run homer, scoring David Peralta to make it 7-3, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.

Final Nail in the Coffin

A double by Victor Robles in the top of the 9th brought home Cal Raleigh, sealing the 8-3 final score. Our last chance in the bottom of the 9th saw Manny Machado grounding into a double play, ending the game.

Overall, it was a tough game where we saw flashes of potential, but the Mariners' pitching and timely hitting kept us at bay. On to the next one, Padres fans. Let’s stay positive and keep cheering for our team! 😤⚾
