Tough Loss in a Close Game
Hey Mariners fans, another nail-biter tonight, but unfortunately, we came up just short against the Rays. The game started off with a lot of solid pitching and some missed opportunities at the plate.Early Innings: Pitchers' Duel
It was a slow start offensively for both teams. J.P. Crawford and Jorge Polanco couldn't find their rhythm, and Julio Rodríguez ended the top of the 1st by grounding out, keeping the score at 0-0. Bryan Woo had a strong opening inning, striking out Yandy Díaz and getting Josh Lowe to fly out.Mid Game: Raleigh's Blast and Costly Errors
The highlight of the early innings came when Cal Raleigh smashed a 423-foot homer to right-center in the 4th inning to give us the lead: Mariners 1-0! However, an unfortunate error by pitcher Saucedo and a subsequent wild pitch allowed the Rays to tie it up in the bottom of the inning.Late Game: Thrilling but Heartbreaking
The 7th inning brought us hope. Mitch Garver hit a clutch two-run homer to left (400 feet!) bringing home Dominic Canzone, putting the Mariners ahead 3-1. But the Rays rallied in their half of the 8th. Ben Rortvedt's ground-rule double and Díaz's two-run single turned the tide. Despite Andres Muñoz stepping in, we couldn't hold the lead.Final Push: Falling Short
Heading into the 9th, there was still hope. But Garver struck out looking, Josh Rojas flied out, and Crawford couldn't keep it alive, striking out to end our chances.Final score: Rays 4, Mariners 3. A tough one to swallow but we'll bounce back! Keep your heads up, Mariners fans.
