Tough Day at the Office for the Mariners

Oh boy, what a rough game it was for us Mariners fans. The matchup against the Rays turned into a lopsided affair, with the final score standing at 10-2 in favor of Tampa Bay. 😔 Starting with some hope in the top of the 1st inning with Randy Arozarena getting a single, it all quickly crumbled after an unfortunate attempt at thieving third led to Arozarena being caught stealing. The rest of the inning offered little else with Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez unable to put anything on the board for us.

Rays Take the Lead

Things took a turn for the worse in the 2nd inning. After Richie Palacios walked, Nick Fortes hammered home a three-run homer off our pitcher, sending us down 3-0 early on. 🤦‍♂️ Not to mention, it seemed like our bats went silent, with the Mariners struggling to get a string of hits together across the innings.

Small Silver Linings in a Sea of Blue

Despite being down significantly, a glimmer of hope came in the 9th inning when pinch hitter Leo Rivas blasted a homer to right center, scoring Eugenio Suarez, who had doubled earlier. This put us on the scoreboard with two runs, but it was too little, too late. The defeat was tough to take, but with every game, there's a lesson learned. Hang in there, Mariners fans! We'll dust ourselves off and look forward to the next game. 🔜👊
