Tough Night for the Cardinals at Camden Yards
The St. Louis Cardinals squared off against the Baltimore Orioles and unfortunately fell short with a final score of 2-5. Our beloved birds struggled to find their rhythm against a solid Orioles lineup and an exceptional performance from the home team's pitching staff. Despite the valiant efforts, particularly in the top of the 5th inning, where Pedro Pagés blasted a two-run homer, it wasn't enough to overcome the Orioles' lead.Missed Opportunities and Defensive Woes
In the early innings, the Cards had a chance to jump into the lead when Masyn Winn reached second due to a pickoff error, and later advanced to third on Brendan Donovan's ground-out. Unfortunately, Willson Contreras couldn't capitalize and grounded out to end our threat in the 1st. Defensive errors also haunted us, notably a throwing error by Nolan Gorman in the 1st inning, which allowed the Orioles to score their first run. Dylan Carlson's big three-run homer in the 4th put us in a 5-0 hole from which we couldn't recover.Brief Glimpse of Hope
Our best chance came in the 5th inning when Nolan Gorman got on base with a single and then Pedro Pagés electrified the Cardinals fans with a home run to left, bringing the score to 5-2. Victor Scott II showed some hustle getting hit by a pitch and then stealing second, but it wasn't meant to be, as the Orioles' bullpen locked it down with some tight pitching to prevent further damage.Looking Ahead
The game ended with Jorge Bautista striking out our last hopes of rallying with Willson Contreras, Ivan Herrera, and Jordan Walker all unable to make a late-game impact. As always, we remain steadfastly loyal and look forward to seeing our Cardinals bounce back in the next game.
