A Tough Day at Wrigley for the Cardinals

Well, fellow Cards fans, it certainly wasn't the afternoon we hoped for. The spirited showdown at Wrigley Field saw our beloved Cardinals fall to the Cubs with a lopsided final score of 11-3. The game started quietly for us, with Brendan Donovan, Masyn Winn, and Alec Burleson all facing quick outs in the top of the first inning. The Cubs, on the other hand, came out swinging, with Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong hammering solo home runs to put the Cubs on the front foot early. 😳

A Glimmer of Hope: Donovan's Homer

Our streak of outs continued until the top of the fourth, when Brendan Donovan gave us something to cheer about with a solo homer to left center. That dinger cut the Cubs' lead to 7-1 and gave the Redbirds a much-needed boost. It was a moment of magic amidst a tough day, reminding us all of Donovan's talent. 😊✨

Resilient Till the End

Despite the challenging scoreline, our Cards showed resilience in the ninth inning. The team's fighting spirit was evident when Lars Nootbaar fired a single to right, allowing Garrett Hampson to score another run. Thomas Saggese and Nolan Gorman kept the bases loaded with some smart plays, leading to Pedro Pagés earning a walk that let Nootbaar add a third run for us. Though we couldn't turn the tide, the team never gave up. Let's carry that fighting spirit into the next game. 💪⚾

Thanks for tuning in, Cardinals faithful. Let's rally behind our team and look forward to brighter innings ahead! Go Cards! ❤️🧢
