Pitcher's Duel Through Seven Innings
What a game, Cards fans! The pitchers on both sides brought their A-game today, keeping the score locked at 0-0 deep into the match. Our batting lineup struggled to make contact early with Masyn Winn, Alec Burleson, and Paul Goldschmidt all unable to generate much action in the first few innings. But shoutout to our pitchers for keeping the Cubs' bats silent as well! The Breakthrough Moment: Pedro Pagés Homer!
The top of the 8th inning felt electric as Pedro Pagés sent one soaring over the left-center field wall for a solo homer, giving us the crucial 1-0 lead. What a shot! It had been a tightly contested game up to that point, and this was the breakthrough we needed.Insurance Runs in the 9th Inning
We weren't finished yet! Nolan Arenado came up big with a leadoff double to center field in the top of the 9th inning. Ivan Herrera then stepped up and doubled to right, bringing home Arenado for a 2-0 lead. Just when you thought we were done, Dylan Carlson singled to left, bringing in Herrera to make it 3-0. What a fantastic inning to secure the win!Closing It Out
After giving up a walk in the bottom of the 9th, Ryan Helsley showed his mettle, striking out Nico Hoerner to end the game and preserve the shutout. Our relievers really locked it down and kept the Cubs off the board to secure this 3-0 victory.Wrap-Up
