Cubs Strike Hard in the Fourth Inning
Hey Cubs fans! What a game today as we took down the Cardinals with a final score of 5-1! Let's dive into the action-packed day at Wrigley Field.
Quiet Start for Both Sides
Both teams struggled to get any momentum in the first three innings. Our pitching was on point as we struck out the Cardinals' batters left and right. Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ managed to get on base in the bottom of the 2nd, but we couldn't convert.
Fourth Inning Breakthrough
The excitement began in the 4th inning. Although the Cardinals managed to get on the scoreboard first with a sacrifice fly from Arenado, we quickly retaliated. Cody Bellinger singled, and Seiya Suzuki followed with another single. Happ struck out, but the real twist came when an error allowed Bellinger to score and advanced Suzuki. Nico Hoerner capitalized, and after some strategic stealing, we ended up bringing in two runs. Hoerner stole third and Dansby Swanson grounded out but brought Suzuki home. 2-1 Cubs!
Seventh Inning Seals the Deal
In the 7th inning, with Mike Tauchman and Cody Bellinger on base, Ian Happ hit a massive homer to left-center, bringing in three runs. This gave us a comfortable 5-1 lead. Our defense held strong afterward, with Bote coming in at third base and Miller keeping the Cardinals in check.
Closing with Authority
In the top of the 9th, Goldschmidt and Gorman struck out swinging and looking respectively. Nolan Arenado tried his best but could only manage to ground out to second. Victory for the Cubs!
Overall, it was an awesome game for our Cubs. The crowd’s energy was electric, and our boys delivered! Let's keep this momentum going! Go Cubs Go!
