Reds' Offense Starts Strong

The Cincinnati Reds took the field with determination today, and right from the get-go, we had something to cheer about! Noelvi Marte and Elly De La Cruz both got on base in the first inning, setting up Miguel Andujar and then Gavin Lux, who doubled to center, bringing De La Cruz home for an early lead. Starting the bottom of the first inning with a 1-0 lead against the Cardinals is always a confidence booster! ⚾💪

Pitching Gets Tested

While our boys couldn't quite turn that initial spark into a steady flame, our pitching staff showed some serious grit. Big props to our starting pitcher for keeping a lid on things through the initial innings. The Cardinals eventually caught up and evened things in the fourth, but our pitching staff held firm with plenty of strikeouts, keeping us right in the mix. Third inning zero runs - not bad at all, eh? 🧢👊

Late Rally Comes Up Short

In the seventh inning, things heated up when Jose Trevino came in to pinch-hit and Matt McLain smashed a solo homer into left center! Way to go, McLain! That brought us back to a competitive 2-3, but unfortunately, the Cardinals extended their lead in the 8th with a homer from Pedro Pagés. Despite a valiant ninth-inning start with hits by Spencer Steer and Ke'Bryan Hayes, the Reds ultimately couldn't close the gap, and we finished at 4-2. A tough one to take, but no shortage of effort from our guys today! Let's get 'em next time! 🔥👊

Overall, not the ending we'd hoped for, but these Reds are determined. Onwards and upwards, Reds Nation! 🍀🔴⚾
