Tough Day in Colorado
The Cardinals journeyed to the Rocky Mountains, ready to face the Colorado Rockies. The initial excitement fizzled out as our bats couldn't keep pace with those of the home team. It was a rough ride as we fell 4-8 in the final score.Early Struggles
Our start was far from ideal. Despite a promising single from Brendan Donovan in the first inning, Ivan Herrera grounded into a double play, swiftly nullifying any momentum. We couldn't get more than a walk and a few scattered hits in the early innings, and the Rockies took advantage. Mickey Moniak put the Rockies on the board early with a towering homer, while Ryan McMahon and Adael Amador brought their A-game, extending the lead to 6-0 by the third inning.Finding Some Rhythm
Finally sparking some life in the fourth, Alec Burleson took a hit-by-pitch situation and turned it into a run, thanks to an RBI groundout by star Nolan Arenado. Masyn Winn came through with an RBI single, driving in Willson Contreras and cutting the gap to 6-2. The Cardinals fans had a glimmer of hope, but the Rockies' pitching held firm against our lineup.Late Push
We managed to overcome some mid-game exhaustion, as Scott II walked to give Donovan the chance to double him home in the 7th, adding another run to our tally. With one last effort in the 8th, Jordan Walker doubled, setting up Yohel Pozo for an RBI double. Despite closing in to a 7-4 score, we couldn't generate additional runs to keep the rally alive.Missed Opportunities
The Rockies capitalized with a late-game run on our error in the 8th, sealing their victory at 8-4. It was a frustrating evening and an invaluable lesson on the importance of seizing every scoring opportunity. Though the result wasn't in our favor, the grit and flashes of brilliance from key players keep the hope alive for future matchups. Let's get back to Busch Stadium and turn things around!
