Tough Night in Detroit for Cardinals Fans
As a die-hard Cardinals fan, last night’s game against the Tigers was a hard pill to swallow. Despite our best efforts, the Cardinals came up short, losing to the Tigers with a final score of 1-4. Let’s dive into the details of the night’s events.Starting Slow Out of the Gate
The game kicked off without much action on either side. Both teams’ defenses were on full display, with neither team scoring in the first inning. Brendan Donovan, Willson Contreras, and Lars Nootbaar couldn’t get the momentum going for the Cardinals, making the top of the 1st a quick affair. The Tigers managed to get Riley Greene doubled to right in the bottom, but he was left stranded - a small victory for us early on.Tigers Break Through
The bottom of the 2nd inning is where things started to take a turn. The Tigers got on the board first thanks to a double from Colt Keith, bringing in Matt Vierling. Despite this early lead, our boys tried to hold strong, reflecting the game's competitive nature. But the third inning was a dagger; Vierling homered, bringing the score to 3-0. It was a tough scene, but hope wasn’t lost quite yet.A Glimmer of Hope
In the top of the 4th, Willson Contreras delivered a glimmer of hope with a massive 433 feet homer to center field. The joy was palpable, even from the living room couch! But as much as that homer rekindled our spirits, it turned out to be the only run we’d get for the night.Down But Never Out
Throughout the rest of the game, both teams dug in. Our Cardinals showed grit, especially in the 7th and 8th innings, making efforts to change the game's course. Despite some strategic moves and changes on the field, including JoJo Romero taking the pitcher's mound in the 8th, the Tigers' defense stood strong. The final attempt in the 9th, with Alec Burleson striking out swinging, sealed our fate for the night.Looking Ahead
While last night didn’t go as we had hoped, the passion and effort from our Cardinals were evident. Each game is a lesson, and there’s no doubt our team will come back stronger, ready to take on the next challenge. Let's keep our heads up, Cardinals Nation! Our team needs us now more than ever. On to the next one, where we'll fly high once again!Scoreboard for Cardinals @ Tigers (May 1st, 2024)
