Tough Break in Houston
Last night's game against the Astros was a nail-biter, and unfortunately, it didn't go the Cardinals' way. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Astros, but there were certainly moments when we thought the tide might turn.
Early Innings Struggle
Masyn Winn started us off, but a groundout ended his efforts quickly. Brendan Donovan walked and Alec Burleson got a single, moving Donovan to third, but ultimately our guys left the bases loaded in the top of the 1st. Isaac Paredes from the Astros got a homer in the bottom of the 1st, putting them up 1-0.Astros Pull Ahead
By the end of the 3rd inning, the Astros had increased their lead to 2-0 with Paredes bringing in another run after a single in the bottom of the 3rd. Our boys were battling; Alec Burleson and Ivan Herrera kept cool under pressure, each drawing a walk in the 4th inning, but without converting any runs. Big shout-out to our defense though, as Ryan Helsley struck out Christian Walker in the Astros' 6th, keeping some hope alive.Late Rally Falls Short
The tension was palpable in the 8th inning when a sacrifice fly by Michael Helman brought home Ryan Vilade to get us on the scoreboard 3-1. Later, Jose Barrero and Cesar Prieto worked their magic to position us at 3-2. I could already hear the cheers rising in our fan base, but the Astros managed to close the inning and seal the game 3-2.Our boys fought hard out there despite the defeat. A tough loss, but we're proud to be Cardinals fans always. Better luck next time, Cards! Let's keep swinging!
