Cardinals Take Down Royals 8-5!
Fellow Cardinals fans, what a game we had today! Our boys did not disappoint as we took down the Kansas City Royals 8-5. This game had it all – homers, clutch hits, and some nail-biting moments. Let's dive into the action.Early Lead with Power!
The game started strong for us with Masyn Winn getting on base with a walk, and then Willson Contreras blasted a two-run homer to right field, giving us a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan kept the pressure on with a single and a double, but we couldn't add more runs that inning.Royals Fight Back
After a quiet 2nd inning, Alec Burleson sent another one into the stands in the 3rd, making it 3-0. But the Royals weren't going down easily. They scored three runs in the bottom of the 3rd, including a clutch hit by Salvador Perez, tying the game at 3. The Royals added two more runs in the 4th, taking a 5-3 lead.Cardinals Rally!
In the 6th inning, Goldschmidt walked and Nolan Gorman doubled, setting up Tommy Pham for an RBI groundout to bring us within one run at 5-4. The bullpen did a great job holding the Royals scoreless in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings.The 8th inning was where things got interesting! Donovan doubled to start the inning, and after some strategic plays and a hit from Victor Scott II, we took the lead 6-5!

In the top of the 9th, Burleson got us going with a single and then Contreras hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot to left, giving us a comfortable 8-5 lead. The Royals tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the 9th but Ryan Helsley shut the door, securing the win for us.What a game and what a performance by Contreras with two homers and 4 RBIs!
