Tough Night for Cardinals Pitching 🌧️

Despite our boys' best efforts, the Cardinals unfortunately lost to the Dodgers with a final score of 6-12. The game started off with some missed opportunities and struggles on the mound. The Dodgers took an early lead in the first, with Shohei Ohtani doubling and Freddie Freeman hitting a sacrifice fly to bring Ohtani home. Max Muncy followed with a solo homer, setting us back early in the game. Our own Nolan Gorman had a reply in the second with a two-run homer but unfortunately, our pitching couldn't hold them back.

Gorman Shines but Can't Tip the Balance 🌟

Gorman continued to show why he's one of our most promising stars, hitting that impressive home run in the second inning that tied the game for us. Willson Contreras also fought back with a homer in the eighth, but it wasn't quite enough to close the gap. Lars Nootbaar and Ivan Herrera contributed with singles, and Yohel Pozo's sixth inning when he finally got on base and ran to home thanks to a wild pitch, was another highlight. But the Dodgers’ explosive bats, including multiple homers from Muncy and Teoscar Hernández, proved too powerful to handle.

Late Rally Shows Heart ❤️

Even as the game slipped away, the Cardinals displayed a never-give-up attitude. In the ninth, Thomas Saggese was hit by a pitch, showing grit as he took one for the team. With bases loaded, Herrera walked to set up a wild pitch by the Dodgers, which allowed Pozo to score. Alec Burleson kept hope alive with a sac fly, bringing Saggese home. Unfortunately, the comeback fell short as Garrett Hampson struck out swinging.

Overall, it was a challenging game, but there were sparks of brilliance and heart that we'll build upon. We'll bounce back—Go Cards! 💪🔴⚾
