Game Overview

Tough one, fellow Dodgers fans! This game was a rollercoaster that unfortunately didn't end in our favor as the Dodgers fell to the Cardinals with a final score of 5-3. It was a battle until the very end, with both teams putting up some strong performances. Let's dive into the game recap and talk odds and ends about this matchup.

First Half Highlights

The game started quietly, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm in the first two innings. However, the Dodgers were the first to get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd. After an infield single by Alex Call, Shohei Ohtani smashed a homer to center field to bring Call home, putting us up 2-1! 🎉 In the 4th inning, Andy Pages took advantage of a wild pitch and a throwing error to score a cheeky run, giving us a solid 3-1 lead.

The Cardinals Strike Back

In the top of the 6th, the Cardinals pushed back hard with a single by Alec Burleson and an RBI groundout by Lars Nootbaar, creeping closer at 3-2. Our defense held strong until the top of the 8th, when a couple of critical errors allowed St. Louis to score two more runs—grrrr... 🤦‍♂️—giving them the lead, 4-3. It was a tight game and those slipped opportunities ended up costing us dearly as the Cardinals seized control.

Final Inning Attempts

Going into the 9th, the Cardinals managed to extend their lead with a double from Nootbaar that brought in one more run. The Dodgers attempted a rally, with Max Muncy drawing a clutch walk and advancing to second. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to turn the tides as Alex Freeland grounded out, sealing our fate at 5-3.

Looking forward to getting back on track next game, Dodgers nation. Let's keep our hopes up and show some love for our team. Go Dodgers! 💙⚾
