A Tough Battle

Despite a valiant effort by our Miami Marlins, we came up short against the St. Louis Cardinals with a final score of 7-4. The game started off with the Cardinals taking an early lead and unfortunately, we couldn't quite catch up.

Early Deficit

In the first inning, Ivan Herrera singled to bring Lars Nootbaar home, and from there, the Cardinals kept the pressure on our pitching staff. We found ourselves down 0-3 by the end of the second inning. Our batters had difficulty breaking through their defense early on 🥺.

Mid-Game Rally

Things started to look up in the fourth inning. Xavier Edwards reached on an infield single, followed by a thrilling triple by Jakob Marsee, scoring Edwards and finally putting us on the board 👏. An error allowed Agustin Ramirez to score, closing the gap to 4-2. Then in the sixth, thanks to Otto Lopez's single, both Edwards and Ramirez came home, bringing the score to 4-6.

Not Quite Enough

Despite our attempts, the Cardinals managed another run, solidifying their lead. Our hopes were high in the ninth inning as Lopez and Heriberto Hernandez walked, but the momentum was halted with strikeouts by Eric Wagaman and Troy Johnston. We ended the game with a valiant effort but unfortunately on the losing side, with the score at 4-7. Onwards and upwards, Marlins fans! We'll get them next time! 🐬⚾
