Tough Loss in an Intense Showdown
Oh Cardinals fans, what a rollercoaster of emotions this game was!
Strong Start Filled with Home Runs
The game kicked off with a bang as Ivan Herrera homered to left center in the top of the 1st inning, setting a promising tone for the night. Shortly after, Lars Nootbaar took advantage of a Brewers' error that allowed Willson Contreras to score. And let's not forget when Brendan Donovan launched a homer to right center in the top of the 3rd, giving us a healthy 3-0 lead!
Holding the Lead and Extending It
We maintained control of the game, with Willson Contreras and Victor Scott II each contributing with key plays that furthered our lead to 6-1 in the sixth inning. Our pitchers were on top of their game too, striking out Brewers left, right, and center. Kudos to our defense!
Brewers Fight Back but We Stand Firm
The Brewers, however, crept back in the later innings, scoring three runs during the 6th and 8th innings, catching up to 4-6. It was tense, but our boys managed to keep their composure for a while. The excitement peaked when Thomas Saggese singled in the 9th allowing us to extend our lead a bit further, making it 7-4.The Agony of Extra Innings
Oh, the drama! The Brewers made a comeback, tying the game 7-7 at the end of the 9th inning, forcing us into extras. We showed resilience and determination, with Ivan Herrera bringing Jordan Walker home in the 10th inning, reclaiming the lead at 8-7. Our hopes soared!
A Heartbreaking Finish
Alas, the Brewers managed to snatch away our lead with a sac fly from Caleb Durbin and a walk-off single by Andruw Monasterio. Our Cardinals gave it their all, and we were so close, but it just wasn't our night in the end.
