A Nail-Biter of a Game! Pirates Triumph Over Cardinals in Extra Innings! ⚾

What an exhilarating game, fellow Pirates fans! 🏴‍☠️ Our Buccos managed to pull off a thrilling victory against the St. Louis Cardinals in extra innings, securing a 5-4 win in what was a true rollercoaster of emotions.

A Rocky Start for Both Teams

The game started off slow with both teams struggling to get on base. Our main man Andrew McCutchen struck out looking, while Bryan Reynolds managed a single, but we couldn’t capitalize and ended the inning without scoring.

First Blood Drawn by the Cardinals in the 5th

The Cardinals were first to score in the top of the 5th inning thanks to a single by Winn that brought Crawford home. However, our bullpen cleaned up nicely thereafter.

Pirates Take The Lead in the 5th

The bottom of the 5th showed the resilience of our Pirates. Rowdy Tellez and Nick Gonzales got on base, and thanks to a grounded out by Ke'Bryan Hayes and a sacrifice fly by Joey Bart, we took the lead 2-1! 🥳

Great Pitching to Keep Us In The Lead

Hats off to our pitchers who kept the pressure on the Cardinals. Both Nicolas and Mlodzinski did a fantastic job striking out batters and keeping the threat at bay.

A Solo Shot by Tellez in the 7th! 💣

Rowdy Tellez added insurance with a solo home run to left field in the 7th inning, making the score 3-1. However, the Cardinals were not going down without a fight.

Cardinals Tie It Up In the 8th

Willson Contreras put a dent in our lead with a 422-foot home run to center, bringing in two runs, and tying the game at 3-3. Goldschmidt tried to keep the momentum but was left stranded.

A Tight Finish in Regular Innings

Our Pirates couldn't bring anyone home in the bottom of the 8th and 9th innings even though Oneil Cruz hit a double, and it was nail-biting, to say the least.

Extra Inning Drama

The 10th inning saw the Cardinals briefly take the lead again through a sacrifice fly by Burleson. But, the Pirates were not done yet!

Extra Inning Heroics! 🎉

With Jared Triolo running for Bart, Michael A. Taylor couldn't quite connect, but then Andrew McCutchen walked and Bryan Reynolds singled to tie the game. Oneil Cruz, ever the clutch hitter, singled to right bringing Andrew McCutchen home and securing a 5-4 walk-off victory! 🏆💥

What’s Next?

Let’s carry this momentum forward and keep the wins rolling! Next game is going to be just as exciting! Let’s Go Bucs! ⚫🟡
