Tough Loss in Extra Innings for the Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals faced a rollercoaster game against the Seattle Mariners, ending with a heartbreaking 4-2 defeat in the 13th inning. Starting off strong, Ivan Herrera delivered a 411-foot homer to left-center in the 1st inning, putting us on the board early with a 1-0 lead. But the Mariners responded quickly in their half of the 2nd inning, equalizing the score at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly by Dominic Canzone.Pitchers’ Duel Through the Middle Innings
As the innings rolled by, both teams were locked in a solid pitchers' duel. The Cards struggled to take advantage of scoring opportunities, stranding runners in several key spots despite some promising hits. Thomas Saggese had an impressive day, going 4-for-5 and driving in Willson Contreras in the 11th inning to give us a 2-1 lead. Our hopes were dashed in the 13th when Leo Rivas of the Mariners hit a two-run homer, sealing our fate with a 4-2 loss. It was a tough pill to swallow for the Redbirds, as our bullpen worked tirelessly to keep us in the game through extra innings. Despite the outcome, we saw some solid performances today and will look to bounce back stronger in the next game. Let's keep our heads up, Cards fans—we'll be back on top soon!
