Tough Day for the Cardinals
Oh, Cardinals fans, it was a game we started off with so much promise! Early action from Lars Nootbaar getting on base and scoring gave us a lead at the top of the 1st inning thanks to a solid single from Willson Contreras!
It looked like we might have their number... if only it had stayed that way.Struggles on Defense
Our pitching and defense struggled against the consistent play of the Rangers. After we took an early 1-0 lead, the Rangers responded at the bottom of the 2nd with multiple runs, which saw Josh Smith knock in two with his double. The middle and later innings saw our efforts stay flat offensively as the Rangers tacked on runs with patience and timely hitting. It was tough watching plays slip away, especially after a valiant effort by Nolan Arenado to keep the game tight with his defensive plays.Rough Finish
The wheels really came off in the bottom of the 8th with a mishap from Yohel Pozo and hits by Jake Burger and Jonah Heim that extended the Rangers’ lead. Their overwhelming offensive push was clinched when Josh Smith blasted a homer to right, capping a heart-wrenching inning for us with the score up to 8-1. That ultimately sealed our fate on this difficult outing.
It was a challenging game to watch unfold, but we're Cardinals' fans for the love of the team and tomorrow offers us another chance for redemption on the diamond!
