A Strong Cardinals Start

What a fantastic game for our beloved St. Louis Cardinals! 🎉 We kicked things off with a bang in the very first inning, thanks to Lars Nootbaar blasting a solo home run into right field, giving us an early lead of 1-0. This was quickly followed by some solid play, though a double play cut the inning short. No worries, though, as the Nationals had a quiet response in the bottom half, and we ended the first still up by a run.

Building the Lead

The second inning saw Willson Contreras extend our lead with a monster 406-foot homer to center field! 💪 This put us up 2-0 and set the pace for a commanding performance. Despite the Nationals sneaking a run in the fourth inning, courtesy of a Nathaniel Lowe home run, our defense and pitching held strong, keeping our lead intact. Steven Matz stepped up in relief, taking down batters with confidence.

Sealing the Victory

The top of the 7th was crucial, as Nolan Arenado doubled and later scored on a single from Yohel Pozo. Victor Scott II then stepped up with an RBI single, making it 4-1. Fast forward to the 8th inning, when Arenado electrified us once again with a two-run homer after Masyn Winn's walk. This secured a 6-1 advantage. Our bullpen closed out the game with clutch performances from Phil Maton and Peter King, sealing our victory! 👏

It was a thrilling game filled with incredible plays and undeniable team spirit. Onward and upward, Cardinals! 🚀⚾
