Tough Night for the Rays in Baltimore
Hey fellow Rays fans
, last night was a roller coaster that unfortunately didn't end in our favor. Our boys faced the Orioles at their nest and came up short, with a final score of 5-9. Here’s how it all went down:First Inning Frustration
We started off with some hope as Brandon Lowe and Isaac Paredes got on base early, but were left stranded after some strikeouts. Then the Orioles came to bat and quickly put us in a hole, thanks to homers by Ryan Mountcastle and Anthony Santander, putting us down 0-3 early.
A Glimmer of Hope in the 2nd and 3rd
The Rays bounced back in the 2nd inning, tying the game at 3-3 thanks to a Yandy Díaz triple that scored both Ben Rortvedt and Jose Caballero. We even took a brief lead in the 3rd, with Siri's single bringing in Jonathan Aranda, making it 4-3 Rays. The lead extended to 5-4 thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Díaz. We were hoping this was the start of our cruise to victory!
The Turn of the Tide
However, the joy was short-lived. The Orioles came back strong in the bottom of the 3rd, pulling ahead with a series of hits and a sacrifice fly that brought their lead to 7-5. Our hearts sank further in the 4th when Mountcastle went deep again, driving in two more runs to make it 9-5. Despite the Rays' pitchers' efforts, our bats couldn’t crack the Orioles’ code enough to mount a comeback.
Wrapping Up the Night
The remainder of the game saw our Rays trying to rally back without success. Amed Rosario and Jonathan Aranda got on base in the 7th, igniting a flicker of hope, but we just couldn’t get the runs across. The Orioles’ bullpen, especially Keegan Akin in the 9th, kept our hitters in check and sealed the game with a 9-5 loss for our Rays.
