From the get-go, our pitching command set the tone for the game, keeping the Rays from putting any runs on the board. Our defense, despite a few hiccups, stood strong when it mattered!Key Plays
Our lineup had some crucial moments that pushed us ahead. In the 5th inning, Cedric Mullins got things started by drawing a walk, which was followed by another walk from Colton Cowser. An error by the Rays' catcher allowed Cowser to make it to third base. Jackson Holliday then hit a sac fly to bring Cowser home, putting us on the scoreboard! Then came the 6th inning excitement! Gunnar Henderson crushed a homer to right center, traveling a splendid 389 feet! That gave us the much-needed insurance run. Homers like that are what Orioles baseball is all about!
Closing the Game
We kept the pressure on their pitchers, even though we didn’t score further. Our relief pitchers showed no mercy, with Cano, Pérez, and Domínguez holding it down in tight situations and sealing the deal. Even with some defensive mistakes, we managed to stay cool under pressure and keep the Rays from capitalizing. The final inning had us on the edge of our seats, but the Rays couldn't crack our defense. Nick Maton and Emmanuel Rivera played crucial roles in the clutch moments, making sure no runs crossed the plate.
