Rays Start Strong
The Tampa Bay Rays came out swinging in the top of the 1st inning with a thrilling start. After Yandy Diaz singled to left, Brandon Lowe sent a blast over the right-center field fence for a 2-run home run, putting the Rays up early at 2-0.
Nationals Try to Fight Back
The Nationals made a slight comeback in the bottom of the 1st when Luis Garcia Jr. hit a sacrifice fly, allowing James Wood to score and narrowing the gap to 2-1. The Rays' defense held tight though, preventing any more runs from crossing the plate.Pereira Powers Up
Everson Pereira added to the Rays' lead in the top of the 5th with a solo home run to center, making it 3-1. The Rays' bats stayed warm, putting pressure on the Nationals throughout the game with solid hitting.Rays Extend the Lead
The Rays tacked on another run in the top of the 9th inning when Chandler Simpson singled to left, sending Everson Pereira home and making the score 4-1. The Rays did not let up, showing great discipline and determination at the plate.
Closing it Out
With Pete Fairbanks on the mound to close the game in the bottom of the 9th, the Rays sealed the win with a strong defensive showing. Fairbanks struck out Riley Adams to end the game, cementing our 4-1 victory. The Rays took care of business on both sides of the ball today, and as fans, we couldn't be happier! Go Rays!
