Another Heartbreaker in Philly
Fellow Blue Jays fans, this one was a bittersweet affair. We started strong but couldn't quite hold on to fend off the Phillies in a closely contested 3-2 loss. After a scoreless first inning, we found some life in the second inning thanks to a clutch performance from Myles Straw, who slapped a critical single to left, bringing home Ernie Clement and putting us on the board with a 1-0 lead. The bats looked promising there, but alas, we weren't able to capitalize further.
Guerrero Jr. Keeps Hope Alive
The Phillies responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with a couple of free passes to Braves' base runners and a well-timed walk that saw them claw back to level at 2-2. Yet, just as despair might have crept in, our golden boy Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came through in the top of the fifth! After Bo Bichette grounded into a fielder's choice, Vladdy delivered a rocket to center field, bringing Bichette home to tie the game once more. His bat has been a source of joy in tricky games like these.
Kepler's Dagger and the Fall in the 9th
The highlight for the Phillies, unfortunately, came too late for our liking. The eighth inning proved to be decisive, with Max Kepler sending a solo shot to right field off Green to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead. Heading into the ninth inning, hopes were high, but we couldn't muster a rally against Strahm! George Springer, Ernie Clement, and Davis Schneider all went down in turn, leaving us empty-handed on the evening. It's a tough loss, but we've shown resilience before, and I have faith we'll bounce back stronger! Keep your chins up, fellow fans!
