The game started off strong for us, setting a tone that the Padres just couldn't match. In the top of the 1st, after a couple of quiet at-bats, Daulton Varsho blasted a three-run homer 381 feet to right field, bringing home Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.

Our pitching was on point tonight, with the Padres struggling to find answers. Aside from a hiccup in the 7th and 8th innings where the Padres managed to scrape together their only two runs, our pitchers kept their lineup under control. Special shoutout to Romano for closing out the game and making sure the Padres' bats stayed quiet in the 9th.

In the top of the 9th, just when the Padres might have thought they could claw their way back, Ernie Clement, hitting for Cavan Biggio, singled to right, sending Varsho home, stealing any momentum the Padres hoped to have. This clutch at-bat not only extended our lead but also put the Padres' comeback hopes to bed.
