Bats on Fire in the Opening Rounds
What a thrilling game it was! The Toronto Blue Jays set the tone early at the top of the first inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. With solid hits from Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk, our very own George Springer brought home the first run of the match, signaling the start of what was to be an epic duel! And Bo Bichette in the second inning? Amazing, as always—securing another run to give us a 2-0 lead!
Middle Innings: An Intense Pitcher's Battle
The subsequent innings were a showcase of defensive mastery from both sides, but we held strong. By the 5th inning, neither team had added to their score. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Addison Barger faced some tough breaks with grounding outs and strikeouts, but our defense held firm, keeping the Cardinals at bay. José Berríos pitched phenomenally, allowing us to maintain our 2-0 lead all the way to the 7th inning.
Nail-Biting Ending But Blue Jays Prevail!
Wow, what a rollercoaster finish! The 8th inning saw the Cardinals catch up swiftly with a series of powerful hits, turning the tide momentarily to 4-3. But our Jonatan Clase wasn't having it and homered to center, leveling us back to 4-4. Then came the nerve-wracking extra inning!
In the 10th, Kirk's double brought Barger home, restoring our lead to 5-4.
And what about our bullpen? Pioneer Hoffman came through brilliantly in the bottom of the 10th to seal the win. Another game, and another thrilling win for the Toronto Blue Jays! Well-played, team!
