A Grand Slam Start for the Jays
What a game, eh?
Our Toronto Blue Jays took on the Washington Nationals and boy, did we start with a bang! The first inning set the tone, with some early errors by the Nationals giving us a head start. A throwing error by third baseman Nick Senzel and a fielder's choice gone wrong thanks to first baseman Trey Lipscomb, combined with hits from Justin Turner and Danny Jansen, quickly put us up 4-0. Talk about capitalizing on opportunities! 
Blue Jays' Pitching Keeps the Nationals Quiet
Through the middle innings, our pitchers were just superb, keeping the Nationals at bay. It was impressive to watch as they struggled to find any sort of rhythm against us. The defense and pitching were just stellar, not letting the Nationals get a single run through the first six innings. A round of applause to our pitchers for keeping the game under control!
Nationals' Late Rally Falls Short
Despite a quiet middle, the Nationals did attempt a comeback in the later innings, scoring once in the 7th and twice more in the 9th. However, our lead was just too much for them to overcome. Especially after Kevin Kiermaier sent one flying over the fence for a two-run homer in the 8th, extending our lead to 6-2. The Nationals managed to bag one more run in the 9th, but Jordan Romano stepped up to close the game, sealing a 6-3 victory for the Jays.
