Heartbreaking Loss in Extra Innings
Well, Nats fans, we were so close to clinching the win tonight, but an unfortunate error in the 10th inning sealed our fate. The Braves edged us out 3-2 in what was a nail-biter from start to finish.Promising but Missed Opportunities
Alex Call got things started but couldn't get on base, flying out to left field. Our bats were pretty quiet early on with James Wood, Juan Yepez, and Keibert Ruiz all going down without much action.In the third inning, we saw some potential when Jacob Young doubled to right and managed to steal third. But a double play quickly squashed that momentum.
Our Runs on the Board
In the 4th inning, we finally got on the board. Juan Yepez reached on an infield single, and Keibert Ruiz followed it up with a ground-rule double. Then, Andres Chaparro delivered big time with a double to center, bringing home both Yepez and Ruiz. We briefly held a 2-1 lead!
Pitching Held Up, But...
Our pitchers were doing a great job keeping the Braves in check. MacKenzie Gore was dealing until he handed over the reins to the bullpen. Unfortunately, Gio Urshela scoring on a wild pitch in the 7th tied things up at 2-2.The Heartbreaking 10th
We went into extra innings, but our offense couldn't capitalize. Jacob Young got hit by a pitch, but CJ Abrams and Joey Gallo couldn't move him over, even grounding into a double play.
In the bottom of the 10th, with Luke Williams running for Sean Murphy, a groundout moved him to third. A line-out from Orlando Arcia kept our hopes alive, but a throwing error by CJ Abrams allowed Michael Harris II to reach first and Williams to score. That was the game, folks. Another close one slips away.
Looking Forward
Let's shake this one off and come back stronger. Our boys showed some great moments tonight, and we're all hoping for a better outcome in the next game. Go Nats!
