Game Washington Nationals @ Chicago Cubs (September 7th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Innings 1-3: A Promising Start

The game against the Nationals started off with some serious defensive effort from our Chicago Cubs. Our pitchers were in top form, with Rea seamlessly stepping in to maintain the zero on the board. The highlight of the early innings had to be Carson Kelly's solo homer to left center in the bottom of the 2nd, giving us an early 1-0 lead! 🎉 His performance certainly put some pep in our step.

Innings 4-6: Holding the Line

Though the Nationals managed to even the score in the 5th with a sacrifice fly, our offense responded promptly in the bottom half. Seiya Suzuki delivered a clutch single allowing Nico Hoerner to cross home plate, pushing us ahead 2-1. The Cubs' pitching and defense effectively kept the Nationals at bay through the 6th inning. It was a tight but well-fought game up to this point! 💪

Innings 7-9: A Tough Finish

Entering the 9th inning with a 3-1 lead (thanks to another magnificent homer by Carson Kelly), the Cubs seemed poised for victory. But the Nationals had other plans. Josh Bell unleashed a devastating three-run homer, flipping the game 5-3 in their favor. They tacked on another run making it 6-3, and despite our best efforts in the bottom of the 9th, the Nationals walked away with the win. 😢

Though the night didn’t end in our favor, there were sparks of brilliance from Kelly and Suzuki that remind us of the tough competition our Cubbies always bring to the field. On to the next one, Cubs fans! Let's keep supporting our boys through thick and thin! 🐻⚾
