Exciting Start for the Mets!

What a night at Citi Field! The New York Mets took down the Washington Nationals 2-6 in a thrilling game. Our boys came out strong, and although there were a few tense moments, the Mets delivered an outstanding performance. Let's dive into the action! 💥

Nimmo Sets the Tone Early

The game started off a bit slow, but in the bottom of the 1st inning, our man Brandon Nimmo crushed a massive homer to right center, giving us an early lead. His 440-foot blast was exactly what we needed to kick things off with a bang! 🎉

Nationals Take the Lead

The Nationals managed to push back in the top of the 4th. Keibert Ruiz and Lane Thomas got on base, and then a couple of errors led to two runs, putting the Nats ahead 1-2. Fortunately, the Mets kept their cool and were ready to fight back.

Big 6th Inning Rally!

The bottom of the 6th was nothing short of magic. J.D. Martinez and Pete Alonso got things rolling with singles, and Mark Vientos' double tied the game. After some strategic moves, Francisco Alvarez walked, and Jose Iglesias smashed a single to bring in two more runs. A couple more errors by the Nationals, and suddenly we were leading 5-2! 🤩

Taylor’s Triple Seals the Deal

In the 8th inning, Tyrone Taylor provided the final exclamation point with a fantastic triple that drove in Jose Iglesias, making the score 6-2. Our bullpen did an excellent job keeping the Nationals at bay, and we secured a solid win.

Closing it Out

Jeff McNeil entered to finish strong at second base, with Iglesias moving to third. Elieser Buttó closed the game cleanly with a strikeout and two groundouts, giving the Mets a well-deserved victory. What a game! Let's keep this momentum going, Mets fans! 🧡💙

Let's go Mets! 🚀
