Frustrating Start for the Nationals
The Nationals got off to a slow start. In the top of the 1st inning, CJ Abrams grounded out to first, Lane Thomas flied out to right, and James Wood grounded out to first. We couldn't capitalize on any scoring opportunities early on!Mets Surge Ahead
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Mets struck with a vengeance. Francisco Lindor singled to left, scoring Jeff McNeil. Then, Brandon Nimmo homered, bringing in Harrison Bader and Lindor. By the end of the 2nd inning, the Mets were leading 4-0.Struggles Continue for the Nats' Offense
The Nationals couldn't seem to get anything going in the early innings. In the top of the 3rd, Luis GarcÃa Jr. reached second on an error, but Trey Lipscomb and Jacob Young struck out, and Abrams was hit by a pitch. With bases loaded, Thomas walked, but Wood grounded out, ending our chance to score.Lindor and Nimmo Extend Mets' Lead
In the bottom of the 6th inning, Lindor homered, bringing in Bader. The Mets were up 6-0. The Nationals were still struggling to get any momentum going. The frustration was palpable!Nationals Fight Back
Finally, in the top of the 8th inning, Luis GarcÃa Jr. doubled to left, and Ildemaro Vargas homered, bringing us to a score of 6-2. However, Keibert Ruiz's homer after Juan Yepez's double brought more hope, ending the inning at 7-4. Let's go, Nats!Nats Make it Interesting
In the top of the 9th inning, Ruiz's homer scoring Yepez made it 7-4. Young walked, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch to bring it to 7-5. But, Abrams struck out, ending the game. Close, but not enough!Conclusion
