What a Start!
The Washington Nationals came out swinging against the New York Mets at the top of the first inning, getting off to a promising start. Our guy, CJ Abrams, led the charge with a double to right. Following suit, Nathaniel Lowe smashed a powerful homer to right center, sending Abrams home and putting us ahead 2-0 early on!
A Steady Lead
By the end of the fifth, our Nationals were still cruising with a 4-2 lead. Abrams continued his stellar performance with a solo homer in the fifth inning, after which James Wood secured a walk. Unfortunately, Wood was picked off at first, but we had a spirited half that widened the gap.
Heartbreak in Extra Innings
As our pitchers fought bravely to maintain the lead, the Mets managed to sneak in tying runs in the eighth inning (making it 4-4). Despite our best efforts in the top of the ninth and tenth innings, including a significant battle from Jacob Young and Robert Hassell III in right field, we just couldn't break through. In the bottom of the 10th inning, following a relief pitch from Henry, a double from McNeil scored Acuña from second base, and the Mets clinched it 5-4. Truly a heartbreaking end to an otherwise well-fought match.
