A Rocky Start in New York

Oh boy, my fellow Nationals fans, this was a tough one to watch. 🎢 The journey to Yankee Stadium ended in disappointment as we took a beating from the New York Yankees, losing 2-11. The game kicked off on an optimistic note but quickly turned south. In the top of the 1st, our lineup struggled to get things moving against the Yankees' defense. James Wood, CJ Abrams, and Riley Adams were swiftly retired, leaving us with nothing to show early on.

Things Unraveled in the 3rd

The 3rd inning was where the wheels really came off the wagon. 😩 Aaron Judge launched a 424-foot homer bringing in Ben Rice, followed by a solo blast from Cody Bellinger. A relentless string of hits and walks by the Yankees, including a ground-rule double by Jasson Domínguez and a homer by Ryan McMahon, left us facing a daunting 10-0 deficit by the end of the inning. Three Nationals pitchers, Cade Cavalli, Shinnosuke Ogasawara, and P.J. Poulin, were all used in a desperate attempt to put out the fire.

A Glimmer of Hope

There was a brief moment of excitement in the 6th inning when Jacob Young and James Wood started a small rally. CJ Abrams managed to hit an RBI single, bringing Young home to finally get us on the board. 🏃 The Yankees shut us down again until the 9th when Andres Chaparro crushed a solo homer to left field, giving us our second and final run of the night. Despite the score, it’s always nice to see our players showing fight to the very end.

We’ll take our lumps tonight and refocus for the next battle. 💪 Go Nats!
