A Strong Start by the O's

What a promising start for Jackson Holliday and our Orioles! 🎉 Holliday kicked things off with a single to right, setting the stage for Jordan Westburg to double him over to third. This chemistry resulted in Gunnar Henderson's sacrifice fly that brought Holliday home, drawing first blood for the O's at the top of the 1st inning. The enthusiasm didn't stop there, as Ryan O'Hearn promptly followed with a single to right, allowing Westburg to score. The Orioles were up 2-0, and the feeling was electric.

Steady Defense Holds the Line

Our defense was on point throughout most of the game. Ravaging through the Rays' lineup, our pitchers kept their hitters in check. It's always thrilling to witness Henderson, Urías, and O'Hearn combine forces for standout plays. Tampa Bay had its chances but found it hard to crack our defense. Standout moments like Urías's ground rule double in the 7th and Henderson's ground fielder's choice showed our resilience. But as we all know, every game has its turning point.

A Tough Finish and a Narrow Loss

Despite the early lead, the Rays clawed their way back. Bottom of the 8th was a heartbreaker with Simpson and Caballero capitalizing on errors and aggressive base running. With the score tied 2-2, an unfortunate error by O'Hearn allowed the Rays to score twice, turning the tide in their favor. Heading to the 9th, Tyler O'Neill's double and Cedric Mullins's relentless hustle gave us hope. Mullins even scored a run, cutting the lead to just one. However, Holliday's fly out at the end sealed a hard-fought 3-4 loss against the Rays.

Overall, it was a great effort from our O's, highlighting some impressive plays and the kind of potential we've got in the squad. Let’s take this energy and come back stronger next time! 🧡⚾
