Game Boston Red Sox @ Chicago Cubs (July 20th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

First Inning Excitement

Hey Cubs fans! 😊 It was an energetic start at Wrigley, and we're always excited when Nico Hoerner gets on base! He led the charge by singling to center, and it helped to get us all excited. Having Kyle Tucker steal second had us all thinking we were in for a treat, but unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize. Still, a good start with Hoerner's hustle! ⚾

Second Inning Breakthrough

The second inning was where we saw some real spark! Our guy Pete Crow-Armstrong nailed a double to right, and Dansby Swanson followed with an infield single. A little bit of cat-and-mouse on the bases saw Swanson advance to second while Crow-Armstrong got caught, but then Ian Happ's hit to right brought Swanson home for an early lead. We were feeling good with a 1-0 start. Let's hear it for Happ! 🙌

Seventh and Eighth Inning Troubles

Sadly, by the seventh inning, things started to unravel. Wilyer Abreu's homer put the Red Sox in the lead and, soon after, Alex Bregman and Abreu once again connected for a couple deep right shots, widening their lead to 6-1 in the eighth. It was a tough couple of innings for our bullpen, although we knew they were giving it their best shot. Hang in there, Cubbies! We believe in you! 🚀

Final Thoughts

So, it ended 6-1 in favor of the Red Sox, a tough pill to swallow, but it's just one game in the grand scheme of our season. Hats off — err Helmets off? 🎩 — to Crow-Armstrong and Swanson for trying to spark us with some early excitement, but we will regroup and come back stronger. We have a passionate team and supportive fans; nothing will keep us down for long! Until next game, stay optimistic Cubs Nation! Go Cubs Go! 🔵⚪🔴
