Tight Game in Kansas City
Well, Red Sox Nation, last night was a heartbreaker
Pitchers' Duel
The game started quietly, with both teams demonstrating stellar pitching and defense. Our pitchers kept the Royals' batters at bay for a solid nine innings, and let’s give a shoutout to Garrett Whitlock, who unfortunately let one slip but kept us in the game. We saw some great work from our bullpen, including an outstanding performance by Zack Weiss, who kept our hopes alive through the seventh.
Breaking the Deadlock
It wasn't until the top of the 11th inning that we managed to put a run on the board. Ceddanne Rafaela made it to third, setting up Rafael Devers with an opportunity to drive him home. Devers came through with a groundout to short, and Rafaela crossed home plate to finally break the silence and give us a 1-0 lead!
Rough Finish
Despite our best efforts, the Royals seized the moment in the bottom of the 12th. Michael Massey advanced to third base after a sacrifice bunt and Freddy Fermin singled to center, securing a walk-off win for Kansas City. Final score: Royals 2, Red Sox 1. Tough loss, but we’ll bounce back!
Let's rally behind the team and get pumped for the next game. Go Sox!
