Tough Loss in Extra Innings for the Sox
It's a heartbreaker today, folks. Our beloved Boston Red Sox put up a valiant effort against the Los Angeles Angels, only to fall short in extra innings, losing 3-2. Despite leading most of the game, the Angels managed to snatch victory right from under us with a dramatic two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th.
Early Lead and Some Stellar Plays
The game started out promising for us! In the top of the 3rd inning, Marcelo Mayer gave us a spark with a triple to right, and Nate Eaton capitalized on that opportunity with a sacrifice fly to score Mayer, putting us up 1-0! Mayer had an impressive game, contributing another key single in the 10th, giving us the 2-1 lead at the time. Our pitching staff did an excellent job keeping the Angels at bay throughout the regular 9 innings, with Trevor Story and Jarren Duran making fine plays in defense. Hats off to Jarren Duran as well for that crucial double in the 7th leading off the inning.
Late Drama and Devastating Finish
The bottom of the 8th saw the Angels breaking through when Christian Moore homered (387 feet) off Jimmy Weissert, tying the game. Our hopes were lifted again in the 10th when Mayer drove in Ceddanne Rafaela to regain the lead, but the baseball gods weren't on our side. In the bottom of the 10th, with LaMonte Wade Jr. striking out swinging, Christian Moore crushed yet another homer (392 feet) off our reliever Wilson, driving in Scott Kingery and sealing the deal for the Angels with a 3-2 victory. It's a tough one to swallow, but there's always the next game, where we'll come back stronger.
