Heartbreaker in Milwaukee

Well, folks, it was a rollercoaster of emotions for us Red Sox fans in Milwaukee today. 😢Our boys came up just short in extra innings, dropping a nail-biter to the Brewers 5-6. We had our chances, and there were certainly moments that made us jump off our couches with excitement, but in the end, the Brewers edged us out.

Rafaela and Duran Shined Early

We got on the board early when Ceddanne Rafaela smashed a solo homer to center in the 2nd inning. That blast set the tone and gave us the early lead. ❤️ Then in the 4th inning, Rafael Devers came up clutch with a two-run single that brought home Connor Wong and Jarren Duran, putting us up 3-1. Devers was swinging with patience and poise all day, drawing walks and keeping the pressure on the Brewers' pitchers.

Back-and-Forth Battle

The Brewers fought back, and the game saw its lead slip through our fingers. After Jake Bauers hit a solo homer in the 3rd, and the Brewers closed the gap again in the 5th with some savvy base running. Fast forward to the 6th inning, and Caleb Durbin torched us with a two-RBI double, putting the Brewers up 4-3. But fear not, Wilyer Abreu crushed a beast of a homer in the 7th to tie it up at 4-4. 🔥

Extra Innings Heartache

Come the top of the 10th, Trevor Story roared with a single to left that allowed Nick Sogard to put us ahead 5-4. It seemed like we were pulling it together at the perfect moment. But in the bottom half, our lead proved fleeting, as an infield single from the Brewers and a costly error allowed them to level the score. A sacrifice fly by Durbin then sealed the game for the Brewers.

We fought hard, but tonight just wasn't in our stars. Until next time, keep the faith, Red Sox Nation! Onward and upward. Let's get 'em next game! 💪
