It's always a good day when the Chicago Cubs snag a win against a formidable opponent like the Atlanta Braves. With a final score of 3-2, Cubs fans definitely have a lot to be happy about today. The game was a true nail-biter, but our boys held on to deliver the victory we all craved.
Key Moments and Players
Starting off strong, Nico Hoerner displayed his prowess with a single in the top of the 1st inning. He kept the momentum going throughout the game, showcasing his excellent base-running skills by stealing not just one, but two bases in the game!
Carson Kelly's homer in the 4th inning tied the game and set the tone for the Cubs’ performance. Kelly was relentless and later added another single to his tally while Dansby Swanson and Justin Turner kept the pressure on the Braves with crucial plays that pushed the score in our favor.
The Defensive Fight 
Though the Braves put up a good fight, our pitching staff was on fire today. After Ozuna and Alvarez Jr. scored for the Braves in the 3rd inning, our bullpen shifted gears. Rogers, Hodge, Thielbar, Keller, and finally Kittredge shut down the Braves' lineup in critical moments, especially during the intense final innings.
Special shoutout to Hoerner for his impressive base defense that prevented further scoring and kept the Braves at bay.
An Exciting Close 
With Craig Kimbrel on the mound in the bottom of the 9th, every Cubs fan was undoubtedly on the edge of their seats. But our pitching squad came through, extinguishing Atlanta's hopes and ensuring a triumphant close to the game.
