A Slow Start for the Cubs
Ah, Cubs fans, it was another one of those nights. From the get-go, our beloved Cubbies had a rough time standing up to the Braves. The top of the first saw Michael Busch, Ian Happ, and Seiya Suzuki all heading back to the dugout empty-handed. No runs, no hits—we were hoping for more fireworks.
Braves Take Early Control
The bottom of the first felt like a gut punch. Braves' Ozzie Albies knocked a bomb straight to center for a solo homer to start the scoring. While we were still digesting that, Drake Baldwin and Ronald Acuña Jr. added to our woes with two more scores, bringing the Braves' tally to 3-0. Our guys were fighting an uphill battle before we even got settled in our seats!
Cubs Fight Back—Sort Of
Our bats remained mostly silent until the 7th inning. Nico Hoerner doubled to left, giving us a glimmer of hope. A sac fly from Matt Shaw scored Hoerner, and we were finally on the board! But, sadly, that was about it for us. No more runs came our way for the rest of the game.A Late Braves Strike
Just when we were hoping for a late comeback, the Braves’ Matt Olson decided to crush our dreams further with a 417-foot homer in the 8th inning. The score stood at 4-1.
Game Over
In the 9th, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Nico Hoerner, and Willi Castro all tried but found no success against Braves closer Iglesias. The game ended with a 4-1 loss for our Cubs.
It wasn't our night tonight, Cubs fans, but let's not lose hope! Tomorrow is another day and another game—Go Cubs Go!
